14. Ryokan Ichinoi, Kurokawa Onsen ★ Visited for higaeri, located a short uphill walk from the Kurokawa tourist center. Higaeri usually available from 10:00 to 14:30/15:00, sometimes with several closed days per week. Included in the Kurokawa tegata. Higaeri guests only have access to one outdoor bath. Outdoor stone bath. Clear water with a small amount of fine white mineral deposits. Slight proper sulfurous onsen smell. Temperature 42-43. View from the bath of a hill and forest. Because the higaeri window is very narrow, not always available, it's uphill from the tourist center, and only one bath is accessible — for higaeri it may not be as interesting in Kurokawa compared to other ryokans. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a pleasant stone rotenburo with a natural view. 08.04.2025
Day-use is available, included in the pass. They only let me into the outdoor bath. It's small, no showers for it, and you change almost outdoors. Medium water temperature, there is a smell, the water is clear with rare white pieces of "lime." Towel 200 yen. Compared to other options in Kurokawa, in this limited format you can skip it.
