690. Futagojimaso, Wakayama (pt.1) ★★ Stayed overnight, didn't order food. Higaeri onsen for 1200 is available from 11:00 to 15:00. They also offer higaeri meal + onsen packages. A very atmospheric Showa-era concrete ryokan. The atmosphere captivates you immediately inside. A local ginger cat roams freely around the ryokan, and a black cat can be seen outside. Views from the windows of the ocean, abandoned buildings, and old fishing structures. There's an observation deck on the roof with a view of the ocean and Bandoko Garden, which is very nearby. If you walk toward the town and stroll around the area for 20-30 minutes, the Showa atmosphere only gets stronger - lots of abandoned buildings and Showa-era stuff. For fans of Showa vibes, this place is highly recommended. For others, it's a chance to experience Showa atmosphere in a very balanced format between quality and decrepitude. 11.11.2025 12.11.2025
