平戸たびら天然温泉 なごみの湯

The baths at Samson Hotel sit above the Hirado Seto strait, and the rotenburo (open-air bath) faces the water directly. From it you can watch ships passing under Hirado Bridge, and at sunset the light across the strait is genuinely worth timing your visit around. The water is smooth on the skin, with a faint slippery quality that stays with you after you get out. Indoor baths, sauna, cold bath, electric bath, and jet seats round out the bathing area. The hotel also has private baths (kashikiri, 貸切風呂) with their own open-air section and strait views. This onsen is one of the Kyushu 88 Hot Springs (九州八十八湯, Kyushu Hachijuhachi-yu). A tatami rest area inside is open to day visitors too.
