A sodium-chloride strong-salt spring in the Arima tradition — hypertonic, with a dissolved-solids load that exceeds ocean salinity and leaves a noticeable mineral film on the skin after the bath. Neutral pH and a hot wellhead put it firmly in Arima's heat-retaining lineage; a respectable 94 mg/kg of metasilicic acid softens the otherwise mineral-heavy feel.

346. Gekkoen Korokan, Arima Onsen
Stayed overnight with meals. No issues having double kaiseki for one person — the food was great. If you stay overnight at Gekkoen Korokan, you can freely use the onsens at the adjacent Gekkoen Yugetsusanso, which is connected by an internal walkway and a separate bridge. Private baths available for 2200, but all with tap water (they specifically warn you about this and draw attention to it). Had a fairly spacious room, but in European style. The website mentions plans for higaeri meals.
1. Public bath. Bath photos from the internet, matches reality.
1.1. Great outdoor bath. Decent view of trees. Cloudy brown water, temperature around 39-40. There's also a round dousing bath with clear water nearby.
1.2. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature around 40-41. Breathing is fine.
1.3. Sauna.
2. Private bath with a window. Tap water, clear. Temperature around 40-41.
3. Indoor private bath with wine-infused water, tap water. Temperature around 40. Better to book during daytime since the color will look much more interesting in daylight.
Considering the total number and level of baths, it's recommended to book accommodation to get access to onsens via the Korokan + Yugetsusanso combo. Very strong.
