A very tired 2-star hotel (meaning it has shared toilets), but with kakenagashi onsen! Only the indoor bath is operational; the rotenburo (outdoor bath) is closed (the door says "closed for winter," but the staff say there's little water in the source and the rotenburo won't open anytime soon). There are many fallen tiles in the bath, and overall it looks neglected. There's some kind of smell in the changing room. But it really is kakenagashi, the water is hot (no thermometer, but the bath felt about 43-44°C), without much color or smell. The shower also seems to use onsen water because there's no cold water and you can't adjust the temperature — you wash with whatever flows, and sometimes it's scalding hot. This part is excellent. The onsen is available to guests from 3 PM until 10 AM the next day. There is also higaeri (day-use) available (I forgot the price, around 500-800 yen), and you can get an electronic collectible card on Toreco for visiting: https://all.toreco.jp/hokkaido/192/ From the photos, you can see it's quite a shabby place, and although we like such places, even I, who am not picky, was shocked by the hotel's neglect. However, this was compensated by the price — I stayed for 10,000 yen per night with breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was small and the same every day (a portioned Japanese meal: grilled fish, omelet, miso soup, and rice), but the dinner was very good and varied (even with sashimi). Parking is free and the airport is nearby. Although the place seemed quite unpopular, they were fully booked on the weekend (and the parking was full). Still, they should have closed for renovations about five years ago. 2026.04.24
