Yomiuri Land Spring
Chloride
+ Bicarbonate
Classification

Sodium Chloride-Bicarbonate spring

A sodium-led chloride spring softened by a bicarbonate sub-type — salty, heat-retaining water with a smoother edge than a pure chloride spring. Weakly alkaline at pH 8.0 and soft on the skin, it sits in the Japanese "beauty-water" family. Moderately mineralized at 2,613 mg/kg, with a generous 107 mg/kg of metasilicic acid that leaves the kind of thin silica film which makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.

A modern onsen complex with nice design, terraces, a view of Tokyo from a hill, and the Yomiuri amusement park. Bathing zones: infinity bath with a city view (men's side without a fence, women's side with glass) in two temperatures plus a seasonal aromatic bath, electric bath, jet bath, carbonated bath, two cold baths (8 and 15 degrees for men, only 15 degrees for women), lots of lounge chairs, sauna (with a window for men, without for women). For an extra fee there's ganbanyoku: with private saunas for couples, a room where steam pours down on you, a birch sauna, a terrace with hammocks, and a cold room. Great restaurant, rest areas, and a few workspaces with power outlets for people like me who go there to work.

Tested it. The good: - The night city view is stunning, that's the main reason to come here. There are 3 types of rotenburo: 41, 43, and 41 with herbs (or maybe this bath rotates different fillings as events — I'm not entirely sure, will check the website). - Big sauna. - Next to the sauna, 2 large cold baths: one at 15 and another at 7-10 degrees. It's amazing to sit a minute in the coldest one and then move to the 15-degree one. Or vice versa. As they say, to each their own. - Didn't get the extra ticket for the rock bath, so no review on that. Neutral and bad: - No TV in the sauna. Not a tragedy, but a bit boring after the Nth session. - No salt hammam sauna. - Overall the indoor baths aren't that big and it looks more like an ordinary decent super sento. - Restaurant food is average and anything decent is pricey. Various sets around 4k with tuna. Honestly, I've eaten better at a regular Ofuro no Osama. - Common area is big, but yesterday it was very crowded and tight. Might be worth getting the extra ticket — I think it includes an additional lounge. With the surcharge there's a chance of not being packed like sardines. Funny thing: yesterday there were so many people that they posted a notice about entry restrictions on the website. So you should check before going. They even announced over the radio asking several people to share a locker because lockers were in short supply. Quite a dubious pleasure paying almost 3k and sharing a locker. Seriously. Verdict: I'd say it's worth going for a full day. For search: this is a review of Kakeinoyu 花景の湯 https://maps.app.goo.gl/fxZ8oPuzwvk9ywZj8
