About

A family-run minshuku right at the edge of Onjuku beach in Chiba. The annex has natural hot spring water that runs a distinctive dark brown color, a trait of the springs along this stretch of the Boso Peninsula coast. All baths are private (kashikiri, 家族風呂), so you get the bath to yourselves regardless of the time. The main building has separate private baths with artificial radium spring water. The inn is known for its fresh local seafood, particularly spiny lobster and abalone.

Tabi no Yado Hamayoshi Wrote my first modest review of a ryokan with onsen in Onjuku. Old but lively ryokan on the Iwawada coast. Nearby are the Japan-Mexico Friendship Memorial, Mexican Park, and Iwawada fishing port. The ryokan has kashikiri baths — two radon baths with slightly different water intensity. Dinner was a delicious set of sashimi, mini nabe, and various seafood (I wanted to write kaiseki, but my husband swears on his mother's life it's not kaiseki, so I'll have to take his word for it). From the room you can see the sunset and a bit of the sunrise, and you can hear the sea.
