Stayed overnight here at Suikoen. The second bath set from the male/female rotation is generally similar to the first, except the water temperatures seem swapped — the indoor bath is cooler, around 39, while the outdoor one is hotter. The rotenburo in this set is noticeably smaller too. Photos from Google and the website generally match. The room was great, spacious. The window view partly overlooks the parking lot, but you can also see the surrounding mountains, so that counts as a plus. Photos from Google as well, but everything was pretty much the same. Food-wise, nothing special besides the tea shabu-shabu — nothing else particularly interesting. I saw that the local cuisine includes tsukudani made from locusts, but thankfully (or unfortunately) they didn't have it here. But of course, staying here was worth it at least for Yume no Tsuribashi — the most epic of the local suspension bridges. It's about a 20-minute walk from the onsen, and the views are breathtaking. Yuru Camp fans will also be pleased.
263. Suikoen, Sumatakyo Onsen Visited for higaeri, listed hours 11:30–20:00. Included in the Yuragi tegata (currently 1 of 3 remaining on the pass). They stamp the 60 Onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 booklet. The establishment looks like one of the most solidly built ryokans in the settlement. Indoor bath with clear water, very slight soapy effect. Temperature 43. Air is fine. Outdoor stone bath. Despite the large fence, it still has a pleasant forest view with hints of a rustic feel. Online photo of the outdoor bath matches. Clear water, very slight soapy effect, temperature 39. Recommended for a higaeri visit if you're in the area.
