A sodium chloride spring rising in the Kofu basin at 43 degrees Celsius. The water is weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, salty enough to leave noticeable warmth long after the bath, and carries a faint hydrogen sulfide note at the wellhead. Total dissolved solids sit at 1,165 mg/kg — moderately mineralized, with chloride dominant and a quiet sulfur edge.
535. Yumeminooka, Kai, Yamanashi ★★
Onsen for 500. Operating hours are listed as 10:00 to 22:00. They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book, but the stamp is badly worn. Bath photos are from the internet, roughly match — very few photos online, especially with Mt. Fuji (in reality, there's a spot in the rotenburo where you can see Fuji while sitting in the onsen).
1. Outdoor bath on a balcony. Direct view of Mt. Fuji — there are several spots in the bath itself where the mountain is visible while sitting in the water. Clear water, temperature around 40-41.
2. Indoor area. Breathing inside is fine, but near the shower drains there's an unpleasant smell. Some view of Mt. Fuji from the window.
2.1. Main bath with clear water, temperature around 40-41.
2.2. Small bath with a partition. Clear water, temperature around 42-43.
2.3. Bubble bath. Clear water, temperature around 38-39.
2.4. Small bath with clear water, temperature around 44.
2.5. Sauna.
2.6. Cold bath.
500 yen for an onsen with a rotenburo and a view of Mt. Fuji — that's a seriously powerful combo, hard to ignore.
