About
Konansou (湖南荘) sits on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and the views from the baths make that location count. Both the men's and women's large baths pair an indoor bath with an outdoor rotenburo where you can watch Mount Fuji while you soak. The rooftop foot bath, free for guests, looks out over the lake and the mountain at the same time. On top of the main halls there are private baths (kashikiri, 貸切風呂) bookable by the hour, and some rooms come with their own open-air bath. The water is clear and smooth on the skin. No day use; the baths are for guests only.
168. Konansou, Kawaguchiko (pt.2 - foot bath, in-room bath, private baths)
On the hotel's rooftop there's an excellent observation deck with views of Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. On top of that, there's a foot bath onsen. Great views and very spacious.
The room had a bath on a small balcony. The view of Fuji from the bath is very pleasant. Clear water, temperature I think also 39. Two notes about the balcony:
- You have to climb stairs to get to it, so the view from the room itself isn't that impressive;
- The balcony is shared and divided into sections by walls for each room, so you'll clearly hear neighbors if they're also out in their bath and being noisy.
For 3300 you can book a private bath for 50 minutes. Tried one — small, good air, view of Fuji from the bath. Clear water, temperature I think also 39. When I was leaving, the neighboring private bath was free — snapped a photo of it too, basically very similar.
Really awesome hotel at Kawaguchiko with Fuji views: from the room, from the in-room bath, from the private bath, from the public onsen, from the rooftop observation deck with foot bath. The minor downside for the view is that it's of Fuji over the town rather than over the lake. For Fuji views — definitely recommendable (though at Kawaguchiko there's plenty to choose from with Fuji views).

Booked a room for the night with meals and an in-room bath with a Fuji view. The hotel is on the south side of Lake Kawaguchiko with convenient access to the station (you can walk if you want). The hotel has rooms facing both the lake and the mountain — rooms with the mountain view go fast, better to book in advance. Dinner was kaiseki served in the room, very solid and delicious. Breakfast was a fairly standard buffet.
Main baths. The changing room area is very spacious and comfortable.
1. Indoor area. Comfortable to breathe.
1.1. Main indoor bath with a Fuji view. The lower part of the glass is frosted, but the mountain is clearly visible. Clear water, temperature 39 (this seemed to be the temperature in all the hot baths).
1.2. Utaseyu with three streams. I was there early morning — the utaseyu was turned off.
1.3. Two barrels of cold water on the upper floor.
1.4. Sauna on the upper floor.
2. Outdoor area with a small bath. Clear water, temperature same as indoors — 39 degrees. Fuji is visible, but when sitting in the bath the fence blocks part of the view.
