A higaeri spot in Omachi. There's something like a capsule hotel attached to it. There are baths in both the old and new buildings, which I didn't find on the website — we only discovered it on our way home. We went to the new building. The water is mildly alkaline. The source is originally 63°C but they cool it down to 42°C. Inside there's a large bath, sauna, and cold bath. Outside there's a small rotenburo with a faint chlorine smell. In the women's rotenburo there are no fences, but since the bath is in a low area, you see rocks, a beautiful fir tree, and a small weeping cherry tree (probably beautiful in spring). But if you stand up you can see the mountains. Snow is on the ground. Obviously tattoo-friendly since there were no signs anywhere, and in the men's section there was a fully tattooed foreigner. There's a restaurant, bento vending machines, microwaves, massage chairs with mountain views (in the photo), a souvenir shop with rubber ducks, and a museum dedicated to onsen. Judging by the pictures, the old building has some interesting baths, but the women's and men's sections differ significantly in size (though they swap).
