Classification
Sodium Bicarbonate-Chloride spring
An alkaline simple thermal spring (Yunoyama Kataoka Onsen in the foothills of Yunoyama) with a softly slippery, beauty-water character — pH 8.5 at the wellhead is enough to give the skin that characteristic slip. Lightly mineralized at 0.54 g/kg dissolved solids, the water is gentle on the body, with a faint carbonated tang on the tongue that the certificate notes both at the wellhead and three days later in the lab.

About
The onsen section, Kataoka-onsen (片岡温泉), runs indoors and in a bamboo-grove open-air bath on fresh kakenagashi flow with no dilution or recirculation. For staying guests, the detached organic villas each come with a private open-air bath on the same kakenagashi source. The wider complex adds two celebrity-chef restaurants (Italian and Japanese), a bakery, patisserie, strawberry farm, and Le Furo, a mineral stone room that delivers a low-heat infrared warmth rather than a conventional sauna.
52. Aqua Ignis, Yunoyama Onsen
An onsen complex with accommodation, a coffee shop, dining, relaxation areas, and massage. There are also some extra activities involving a farm and other things, beyond the onsen itself. For Yunoyama, such a trendy, youthful complex feels very unexpected. Literally 15-20 minutes on foot from the complex you can find abandoned buildings, and a large industrial bridge passes right by.
Went for higaeri. Runs from 06:00 to 24:00. Paid 900 for entry, large and small towels. Around 22:00 there was a decent crowd, but plenty of space and it was nice. Didn't see foreigners, few old-timers.
Baths:
1. Indoor zone has one large hot bath with clear water. A light smell is noticeable. Breathing is good.
2. Outdoor zone consists of a small garden with thin bamboo in the center and three baths around it under individual roofs:
2.1. A sitting bath with a view of the garden and the bridge.
2.2. A lying bath with a view of the garden. A bit small for bigger guys — hard to keep your chest underwater.
2.3. A medium round regular bath. Also with a garden view.
2.0. Water in all outdoor baths is clear, slightly milder in temperature than the indoor bath. In the evening, chilling in these baths and zoning out watching the thin bamboo struggling against the strong wind — very blissful.
If you're going to Yunoyama, visiting this place is highly recommended. With such great operating hours, you can do it pretty much any time.
