Classification

Sodium-Calcium Chloride spring

A sodium-calcium chloride spring drawn from a tank that blends four wells (27, 28, 29 and 30). It emerges hot at 58 °C and carries a distinct salty tang, the heat-retaining chloride character that keeps you warm long after the bath. Neutral pH and roughly 4,000 mg/kg of dissolved solids give it noticeable body without overwhelming the skin.

About

A large onsen hotel in Kinosaki Onsen with two bath areas, Genbu-no-yu (げんぶの湯) and Kuruhi-no-yu (くるひの湯), that swap between men and women daily. Kuruhi-no-yu has an outdoor rotenburo, and both areas include saunas; Genbu-no-yu's lineup features a medicinal-stone steam sauna. Overnight guests receive a shuttle bus and a pass for Kinosaki's seven public baths (sotoyu, 外湯), making it a practical base for the town's bath-hopping circuit.

A hotel with an onsen. Other hotels were sold out for my dates, so I booked this one. Not the most convenient location - about a 12-15 minute walk from the station going around. Food is a Japanese buffet. The food was pretty good, plentiful and tasty. Stuffed myself with sashimi at dinner. Lots of rooms, built to handle crowds. A shuttle bus runs from the hotel. At check-in they give you a 24-hour pass for the seven Kinosaki onsen. There are two bath sections for M/F, they swap once a day. First evening I went to the first zone (M on the map photo). Inside there's a large stepped two-level bath, breathing is pleasant. Outside there are two separate baths with colorful lighting in the evening. Water is clear, slight chlorine smell. Water temperature is a bit above average. Second day I was in zone L. Inside there's a large main bath with a "tiled sofa" in the middle so you can sit. Normal water temperature. Also inside are two tubs with mild-temperature water. And there's one square bath with cold water. Outside there's another outdoor bath. Water is colorless, not much smell. The onsen is solid for a hotel. But I'd recommend choosing a different hotel with a better location.
