705. Fujiya, Kurokawa Onsen (pt.2) ★ About the onsens: 1. Indoor public bath zone. Bearable to breathe inside, but very high humidity. Completely steamy both morning and evening. The indoor bath is split into two sections by a divider, clear water. Temperature — closer to the window 44°C, farther from the window 43.5°C. 2. There's a sauna through a small exit from the indoor public bath zone and a passage on a balcony. The balcony is fenced, but the fence is below head height and you can see people walking on the other bank. 3. First private indoor bath. Clear water, around 41.5-42°C. Good air inside — there's a window. 4. Second private indoor bath. Clear water, around 41.5-42°C. Good air inside — there's a window, it was open. 28.12.2025 29.12.2025
705. Fujiya, Kurokawa Onsen (pt.1) ★ Stayed overnight. No day-use available. Got food and a simple single room (sink and toilet in the room). They serve kaiseki dinner — everything was solid. Very warm welcome, great service level, Japanese staff, limited English. The ryokan is right by the main bridge in Kurokawa. Inside it's authentically atmospheric, albeit a bit simple — very cozy to stay at. The ryokan has public baths and two private baths on a first-come-first-served basis. Between 15:00-21:30 and 07:00-10:00 you can use the rotenburo of the partner ryokan Oyado Noshiyu, a 5-minute walk away (separate review for that one). A nice ryokan, good service, excellent location, but no rotenburo of its own, which makes it very hard to consider when choosing a ryokan in Kurokawa given the overall high level of establishments in the village and the number of options available. 28.12.2025 29.12.2025
