Taki-no-yu (滝の湯) is one of 13 traditional communal baths (sotoyu, 外湯) dotted around Nozawa Onsen village, sitting uphill at the northern edge. The small wooden bathhouse has two separate entrances for men and women, and the single tub inside is fed by a continuously flowing sulfur spring whose water turns a distinctive emerald green. There is no soap or shampoo here, and the space fits only a handful of bathers at a time. A short walk uphill, the views toward the surrounding mountains open up as you arrive. Entry is free, with a donation box at the door.
