A higaeri spot that's been featured in tons of magazines, rankings, etc. The water is very unusual. Bright orange, slightly soapy, with iron particles. Contains iron ions and metasilicic acid. pH 8.1. The source itself is a reisen (cold spring) — they heat it. 700 yen, tattoos OK.

Finally visited the onsen with red water in Mishima — Takekura Onsen — which I'd been wanting to check out for a long time. The water is bright orange-rusty, and for the first time I saw dark red yu-no-hana (mineral deposits, aka "grandpa flakes") floating inside. The water is pleasantly hot and warms you up super quickly. Inside there's beautiful dark tile and a window facing the fields. Everything is mega run-down and old-school, just how we like it, but no mold smell at all. It's been operating since before the war. In short — really cool, I share Sergey's assessment.
254. Takekura Onsen Minakuchi-sou, Mishima Public onsen for 600 (listed hours 09:00–20:30, except Tue). The lobby has lots of magazine spreads about this onsen. There are also onsen magazines to browse. They stamp the 60+6 Onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 booklet. Indoor bath with orange water, temperature 41–42, air is fine. Great place with water that's unique for Shizuoka — recommended to visit.
