Day spa complex in Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture. Located not in the most touristy area, surrounded by a pleasant semi-rural vibe with rice fields, frogs, and fireflies. There is a cheerful retro bus that shuttles guests from Takatsuki Station to the onsen. The water is clear, almost odorless and tasteless, alkaline, sodium bicarbonate type, pH 9.1, feels soapy to the touch. Classic “Bijin-no-Yu” (Beauty Hot Water). The declared soda concentration (850 mg/kg) is twice the legally required amount (340), making this source unique in the prefecture. The complex has more or less everything you can expect from a super sento: towel rental, restaurant, massage room, shop with local cosmetics and food made using the spring water. Water is available for purchase in both drinking and non-drinking varieties in bulk. Unusual features include a separate family kasikiri bath, which requires all participants to have the same address and surname. Baths: * Large indoor multi-level bath (some sections are electric) * Massage jet baths * Dry sauna + mizuburo (water bath) * Outdoor cool bubbling stone bath * Large rotenburo (open-air bath) on the roof in stone and barrels Water temperature is adjusted according to the season. The onsen has some collaboration with a local sumo stable, so there is a non-zero chance of unexpectedly bathing together with rikishi (sumo wrestlers), especially in March during the Haru Basho tournament. Recommended if you are an Osaka lover of this kind of water and feel lazy to travel to Wakayama. Wakayama is at our home! 2025-05-24
