Kusatsu Sanyū Meguri
Kusatsu Onsen's ちょいな三湯めぐり手形 is a postcard-shaped wooden pass issued by the town of Kusatsu, giving one entry each to the three municipal day-use bathhouses — all of them 源泉かけ流し (pure source-water, no recirculation, no added water). The pass has no expiration — you can space the three visits across different seasons, different trips, even different years.
Goza-no-Yu sits across from the iconic yubatake (hot-water field) in two wooden bathhouses styled after Meiji-era Kusatsu. Ōtaki-no-Yu is the largest of the three and keeps the famous awaseyu tradition — stepping through five successively hotter tubs. Sainokawara Rotenburo is a vast open-air bath carved into the rocks of Sainokawara Park, one of Japan's largest rotenburo. All three draw from Kusatsu's legendary sulfuric springs (pH ~2), one of Japan's most acidic and bactericidal spring waters.
Compared to paying each bath's individual rate (¥2,700 total), the tegata saves ¥750 and gives you the certificate at the end.
The Kusatsu Sanyu Meguri badge is awarded by Onsen Oni moderators to users who have completed the three-bath tour and received the 完湯認定証. Send a photo of your completed tegata and/or the certificate through the feedback channel. Because the pass has no expiration, your three visits can span any span of time. This is a one-time lifetime badge.
