About

Sakura Tennen Onsen Sumire (佐倉天然温泉 澄流) draws from its own spring, Sakura Someino Onsen (佐倉染井野温泉), pumped from around 1,500 meters down. The water is strongly salty, runs free-flowing (kakenagashi, 源泉かけ流し), and leaves the skin noticeably smooth. The open-air bath sits inside a bamboo grove, which gives it a calm, enclosed feel quite different from the usual suburban spa. Indoors you have jet, bubble, and electric baths alongside a deep cold plunge. The two saunas, an auto-lauyu and a yomogi (よもぎ) mud-salt sauna, are a draw in their own right. The ganbanyoku (岩盤浴) complex, called LeLu (the Finnish word for toy), has several themed stone rooms. Opened in December 2016.
