About

A mild and easy-to-enter warm bath. Located not far from JR Beppu Station, this subdued onsen stands quietly in a residential area. The somewhat distinctive eaves leave an impression. The building's second floor serves as a community center, a classic style for local Beppu onsens. Originally built in 1965 and renovated in 1989. Near the entrance, statues of Jizo and sacred ropes show signs of daily careful maintenance. Besides local residents, many bathers come from nearby hotels. The hot spring source is hot at 57°C, with a refreshing and mild water quality. Immersing your body in the bath refreshes your mood and warms you up. The changing room and bath area have partition doors, providing a sense of privacy. Please observe the posted rules and manners when bathing. After bathing, it is recommended to rest on the wooden bench with a drink in hand.

116. Minami Matogahama Onsen, Beppu An old-school onsen for ¥200. The stated hours are 11:00 to 22:00, except on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-do seal. There is no staff, and no shower. There is no proper ingredient list, I found a very old photo online. The water is clear, and the temperature is 44. In January there were citrus fruits in the bath. It is fine to breathe inside. 01.05.2024 02.01.2026
