About

The indoor bath here has water that leaves skin noticeably smooth, and the facility also has a sauna with a cold bath for contrast. The sand bath (sunayu, 砂風呂) is the standout: spring water runs through a bed of fine ceramic and natural stone granules, and the weight of the warmed sand pressed over your body gives a deep, sweaty heat quite different from a regular soak. There is also a herb bath (yakuyu, 薬湯) on weekends and holidays, and a separate indoor pool with a slide, making this a practical day-trip spot for families in the thinly populated Tozawa area.
