Shakunage no Yu (しゃくなげの湯) has two bath wings, one built around stone and one around cypress, that swap between the men's and women's sides each week. Each wing has both an indoor bath and an open-air rotenburo fed by free-flowing spring water. The water runs slightly milky with a faint sulfur note and leaves the skin soft. A sauna with cold bath is included in both sections, and private family baths are available by reservation. The facility sits beside a river in a mountain valley, and there is a restaurant and a produce market on site.
