A simple thermal spring drawn from Beppu's city-owned Unsenji wellhead together with other sources. Neutral in pH and lightly mineralized at 764 mg/kg of dissolved solids, it is gentle on the body with almost no chemical bite. What lifts it is metasilicic acid at 159 mg/kg — enough to leave the thin silica film that places it in Japan's beauty-water family, with skin feeling noticeably smoother afterwards. The sample was taken at the outlet of the storage tank, so what reaches the bath is a blend rather than a single wellhead.
