Sodium Sulfate spring

A pH 10.0 simple thermal spring on the shore of Lake Yamanaka — strongly alkaline, with the pronounced slippery feel of Japan's beauty-water family laid over a very lightly mineralized body (just 172 mg/kg dissolved solids). The base water is gentle and almost unscented, but the high pH gives the skin a distinctly soapy glide. A cold-mineral source at 26 °C, so it is reheated for bathing.

About

A resort hotel on Lake Yamanaka (山中湖) with two separate bath buildings, both framing views of Mt. Fuji. Hanare no Yu (はなれの湯) is a semi-open rotenburo where you can watch the lake and the mountain at the same time. Mantensei no Yu (満天星の湯) leans into the sauna side, with a Finnish loyly sauna, a lava-stone mist sauna, and two cold baths, one fed by natural Mt. Fuji spring water (also drinkable from the tap) and one with a vibra-jet current. The outdoor relaxation area sits at around 1,100 meters, where the wind comes off the mountain. Day use is available for both buildings.

166. Hotel Mount Fuji, Yamanakako Visited for day-use bathing. Listed hours are 12:00 to 18:00. Price 2200, towels provided. Located north of Yamanakako, accessibility is manageable. Not on the first try, but we found and got the Yamanashi 100 Onsen stamp. On the upper floor there's a scenic bath with a view of the lake and Fuji. If the weather's good — the view is absolutely stunning. Clear water, hot temperature. On the lower floor is the main bath area consisting of: 1. Indoor bath, clear water, hot temperature. You can also see Fuji from the indoor bath in good weather, albeit through glass. 2. Sauna. 3. Modern steam bath. 4. Cold bath. 5. Separate cold jet zone. 6. Outdoor stone bath, clear water, temperature slightly below hot. Great view of Fuji. Loungers nearby to chill. In good weather at the lake when Fuji is visible, this is an absolute must-visit.
