About

Retro cute! An art-style onsen located a 1-minute walk from JR Higashibeppu Station. It has an old-fashioned retro atmosphere. After paying the fee at the reception, you go down a long staircase to the bathing area. The dressing room and bath are combined in an old-style layout. The spacious bath with a high ceiling has a large washing area and a small bathtub in contrast. The eye-catching feature is the mural by illustrator Izuru Aminaka. The men's bath features motifs of Mount Takasaki, and the women's bath features Mount Tsurumi, brightly coloring the bath area. Illustrations are drawn not only on the walls but also in small places, so please try to find them. The onsen is reputed to be soft and not cause chill after bathing. Relax and soak to relieve your daily fatigue. Bathing may be unavailable during periods of heavy rain and high tide. Every year on January 1st, there is a free admission day!

99. Higashimachi Onsen, Beppu ★ An old-school onsen for ¥200. The posted hours are 05:30 to 22:30. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-do stamp rally. Sometimes there is a cat from the staff. No shower. The water is clear, and the temperature is 43.5. In January, there were citrus fruits in the bath. The air inside is good to breathe. There are various drawings on the walls. There is another bath in the corner with water that is nuclear-hot, but it is blocked off. A distinctive and memorable onsen. 30.04.2024 02.04.2025 02.01.2026
