About

Yanagi no Yu (柳の湯) sits in Asamushi Onsen carrying a history that goes back to its role as a honjin (本陣), the official lodging station for Tsugaru domain (津軽藩) travel in the Edo period. The two bath areas, Oyudono (御湯殿) and Tsubonoyu (坪の湯), alternate between men and women on a set schedule throughout the day. The open-air bath is built entirely from Aomori hiba (a local cypress), and the water from the inn's own spring runs without recirculation. The water is soft on the skin. A small sauna is also available.
