A small wooden ryokan at Takayu Onsen (高湯温泉) in Fukushima, built around two private kashikiri (貸切) open-air baths called Yakushi no Yu (薬師の湯), named after Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddhist deity of healing. The water runs a cloudy white with a sulfur scent, and the baths sit inside timber bathhouses. Indoors, a separate bath is also available and tends to be quiet. The lobby has a hearth, and dinner leans on robatayaki-style cooking that changes with the seasons.
