  • Smooth skindry, rough skin
  • Warmingcold sensitivity
  • Cutsminor wounds

A sodium-led bicarbonate-chloride spring, with the bicarbonate side giving a soft, skin-smoothing feel and the chloride sub-type adding a faintly salty finish. Weakly alkaline at pH 8.0 at the source, it falls within Japan's beauty-water family — pleasantly slippery without sharpness. Moderate mineralization of about 1.7 g/kg means real body to the water while keeping it gentle on the skin.

About

A small seaside ryokan on the Kada coast, at the mouth of the Kii Channel. The indoor bath and outdoor rotenburo swap between the men's and women's sides each morning and evening, so an overnight stay lets you try both, and a private bath can be reserved separately. Both outdoor baths, Katami-no-yu (潟見の湯) and Akura-no-yu (飽等の湯), face Tomogashima island across the water and are named after Manyoshu poems set on this coast. The spring is known locally as bijin-no-yu, "beauty water," soft and faintly slippery on the skin. Day-use bathing runs in the early afternoon, and the inn welcomes families with young kids.

328. Wakayama Kada Onsen - Seaside Hotel Kadakaigetsu I stayed one night, a hotel with an onsen on the coast in Wakayama. I did not take meals. Overall, the hotel is pretty worn and tired, the bath in the room looked pretty down in the dumps, with failed attempts to patch something up. They issue Toreco cards for the onsen, not right away at reception, but they managed to find them in the office in some envelope. Nearby is the setting of the anime Summertime Render. The onsen changes by gender. There are two sets of baths, one full set, and the other has the same function, but in practice it is twice as small. 1. First main set of baths by gender. 1.1. Outdoor bath, the water is clear, slightly cloudy. Temperature 38. View of the water and the sky, but a full view of the water past the fence is only possible if you stand up from the onsen. 1.2. Indoor bath with clear water, slightly cloudy. A very light soapy effect. Temperature 40-41. Easy to breathe. 2. Second reduced set of baths by gender. Photos of the baths from the internet, matches. 2.1. Small outdoor bath, the water is clear, slightly cloudy. Temperature 40. A full view of the water past the fence is only possible if you stand up from the onsen. 2.2. Small indoor bath with clear water, temperature 40. A controversial place, on paper it looked more interesting, but in reality it does not really grab you. 03.01.2025 04.01.2025
