Hinanoyado Chitose sits in the snowy backcountry of Niigata, at Matsunoyama Onsen (松之山温泉), one of Japan's three historically celebrated medicinal hot springs. The water runs clear and faintly salty, left on the skin feeling smooth and warm. The main communal bath, Honyara-no-yu (ほんやらの湯), has both an indoor section and an open-air portion; a separate open-air bath, Tsukimi-no-yu (月見の湯), offers hot and cooler soaking pools. Private baths are available by reservation, and select suite rooms come with their own outdoor bath. The spring flows kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し), not recirculated.
