The wellhead carries a tangible carbonated taste with a faint astringent edge, hinting at the spring's freshness. A generous 201.5 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother, placing it in the Japanese 'beauty-water' family.

Grandfather's Onsen with two cats at the reception. Tajima Honkan 田島本館 Besides the onsen, it's also a cafe during the day and an izakaya at night. There are two cats who serve as kanban neko (shop mascots). The place itself has a very cozy atmosphere, and the coffee with sweets was good. The onsen water is pleasant, but somehow there wasn't much to catch the eye. It felt like they just dug an onsen in a shed. It is part of Kyushu 88. From this year, it is no longer included in Kirishima Yutabi.

362. Tajima Honkan, Kirishima, Kagoshima ★★ I went for a higaeri for ¥300. Higaeri is listed from 08:30 to 19:00, but on Mon, Wed, and Fri cleaning is from 11:00 to 13:00. They stamp the 88 Onsen of Kyushu rally. At reception, there is a very lively, friendly, and cheerful woman. There are several cats hanging around the place. The bath photo is from the internet, and it matches. Inside, it is a very old-school bath. The water is clear, bluish-white, and a little cloudy. The temperature is 44. Breathing inside is great. Recommended for a visit. 08.01.2025
