SPA HERBS draws its water from 1,100 meters underground, an alkaline spring that leaves the skin feeling smooth. There are eight indoor baths and five rotenburo (open-air baths) to choose from, including a cave-style steam bath that pipes in the spring vapor directly, a silk bath with electric jets, and a shallow outdoor bath where you can lie back and look up at the sky. The ganbanyoku (gan-ban-yo-ku, 岩盤浴) wing has six different heated-stone rooms and is among the largest in the Kanto area. After soaking you can rest in the upstairs lounge with hammocks and manga, or head to the restaurant. The complex has a gym, fitness studios, and a kids room, so it draws regulars who spend most of the day.
