A simple thermal spring drawn from Beppu City's Unsenji wellhead and other municipal sources. Neutral in pH and lightly mineralized, it is the gentle, low-irritation kind of water that suits a long unhurried soak; the sample for this certificate was taken at the outlet of the storage tank where the city's sources are pooled, so what the bath receives is a blend. What lifts it above ordinary simple water is silica — 159 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, enough to leave the thin moisturizing film that places it in Japan's beauty-water family.
