Omaki Onsen (大牧温泉) sits at the end of Shogawa Gorge with no road access. Guests arrive by a half-hour boat ride through the canyon. The men's rotenburo is set among old-growth forest; the women's looks out over the river and gorge walls. The spring water runs through freely (kakenagashi, 源泉かけ流し), and the indoor baths are open around the clock. Some room types have their own private outdoor baths. In the lobby, charcoal burns in an open hearth (irori, 囲炉裏) morning and evening.
