Shimoda Onsen Center Shirasagikan sits along a river on the Amakusa islands, with indoor baths, a compact open-air bath beside the water, and a sauna with cold plunge. The spring water flows in fresh continuously (kakenagashi), and the baths run hot. Private family rooms are available for those who want a soak to themselves. The facility also has a separate public bath section with lower entry. It holds a national health resort designation from Japan's Ministry of the Environment.
