Classification

Sodium Chloride-Sulfate spring

An alkaline simple thermal spring emerging at 48.0 C. A sodium-led, lightly mineralized water (about 434 mg/kg dissolved solids) that lands firmly in Japan's beauty-water family thanks to pH 9.6 — strongly alkaline enough to give a pronounced slippery feel on the skin. A respectable 54.9 mg/kg of metasilicic acid layers in a thin silica film for noticeable smoothness, while a faint rotten-egg whisper of hydrogen sulfide and a slightly salty edge keep the water from reading as bland.

571. 花かげの湯, Yamanashi ★ Onsen for 700 yen (500 for locals). Operating hours from 10:00 to 21:00 (closed Mon). They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book, but the stamp is very worn out. Bath photos from the internet match reality. First indoor bath with clear water, temperature around 40°C. Breathing inside is comfortable. Second bath is semi-outdoor, in stone (a large window is open, temperature effect feels like being outside). Clear water, temperature around 38°C. Nice and cozy place — in the morning it was comfortable sitting in the semi-outdoor bath. 14.05.2025
