Machi no Yu (町の湯) is the main public bathhouse serving Tawarayama Onsen, a compact onsen town in Yamaguchi where the inns traditionally have no baths of their own. Guests and locals alike come here to soak. Inside there are two tubs fed by free-flowing spring water (kakenagashi, 掛け流し): the water is clear with a faint sulfur note and leaves the skin noticeably smooth. A drinking spring at the entrance lets you try the water before you even step in. The atmosphere is quietly old-fashioned, and regulars outnumber tourists. A private reserved bath (kashikiri, 貸切) is available by reservation for those who want the tubs to themselves.
