A sodium-calcium chloride spring at isotonic strength — salty, heat-retaining, and richly mineralized at roughly 8.8 g/kg of dissolved solids that leaves a mineral film on the skin. The wellhead is a cool 27.5 °C, so the water is heated and served at around 42 °C with recirculation and chlorine disinfection.

Uji's only natural hot spring feeds this day-use bathhouse, drawn from more than 1,100 meters underground into an open-air bath styled after a mountain bathing retreat. Indoors there's another tub, a cold plunge, and a sauna, including a steam sauna that regulars single out. Reviewers say the water runs on the lukewarm side, comfortable even for people who don't like very hot baths. Upstairs is a loft-style tatami corner and a lounge stocked with manga and magazines, plus a drink counter and a restaurant. The name nods to the Uji Jujo (宇治十帖), the Tale of Genji's Uji chapters.

304. Uji Natural Hot Spring Genji-no-Yu Super sento with onsen water, 800-1100 yen. Listed hours are 10:00 to 24:00 (Mon-Fri) and 06:00 to 24:00 (Sat-Sun). They give a stamp for the 41 Super Sento of Kansai 24/25. Has a restaurant, massage, chill-out zone, and massage chairs. Photo of the outdoor zone from the internet — matches roughly; based on the orientation it seems to be the women's side, and the water color was more of a rusty shade (closer to the overexposed photo with water). 1. Outdoor zone, no view. 1.1. Main outdoor bath, rich rusty-colored water with a smell, temperature 41. TV mounted. 1.2. Two barrels with water the same color as the main bath. 1.3. Sauna. 1.4. Cold bath. 2. Indoor zone. 2.1. Event bath with a bag of herbs, water temperature 41. 2.2. Bath with bubbles, clear water, temperature 40. 2.3. Carbonated bath with clear water, temperature 38. 2.4. Sauna. 2.5. Cold bath. Interesting water in Uji, Kyoto. The outdoor bath is good — even though there's a TV, with the crowd at the time of my visit it somehow added to the atmosphere and felt pleasant; I didn't want to leave. A good place, recommended for a visit.
