Tsutsumigawa Onsen (Hanakage-no-Sato Makioka)
Sampled at wellhead
Simple
Classification

Sodium Carbonate-HSiO3-Sulfate spring

A simple thermal spring with strong alkalinity (pH 10.0) — the slippery, skin-smoothing feel sits squarely in Japan's beauty-water family. Lightly mineralized at 134 mg/kg total dissolved solids, so the water is gentle on the body without any heavy mineral grip. The wellhead carries a faint rotten-egg whisper of H₂S, lending a quiet sulfurous accent to the otherwise colorless and transparent water.

568. Tsutsumigawa Hot Spring, Yamanashi ★★ Onsen for 700 yen. Operating hours from 10:00 to 20:30 (closed Thu). They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book. Bath photos from the internet match reality. Outdoor bath in stone. No outside view, but there's a great inner view of maples — one of the main ones was green and the other was red (even in May). Clear water, temperature around 40°C. Indoor bath with a bubble zone and two jets. Clear water, temperature around 41.5°C. Breathing inside is fine. Great place, nice rotenburo, but inconveniently located. 14.05.2025
