About
Mantaka Ryokan takes a maximum of four groups per day, keeping things genuinely quiet. The two baths, one for men and one for women, work on an honor-system reservation: hang the sign, and the bath is yours alone. The spring water flows in fresh without added water or reheating, and guests describe it as smooth and gently warming on the skin. The inn is also known for its soft-shelled turtle (supppon, すっぽん) full-course meals and hand-cut buckwheat noodles.
