About

Tenkuu no Yu (天空の湯), meaning "sky bath," sits on the fourth floor of Maintopia Besshi (マイントピア別子), a tourist park built on the grounds of the historic Besshi Copper Mine. The complex runs two gendered bathhouses, Ki no Yu (木の湯) and Ishi no Yu (石の湯), which swap each week. Inside you get a main bath, jet and reclining tubs, a cold bath, and a sauna with auto-louré. Out on the rotenburo (露天風呂) deck there are carbonated and oxygen pools plus pot-shaped tsubo-yu (壺湯), all with a view out over the mountains. The water is real onsen, soft and faintly smooth on the skin. Ganbanyoku (岩盤浴), the heated stone-floor sauna, is available for a small extra charge.
