About

A ryokan-style hotel in Kamiyama that traces its roots to a small community bathhouse opened in 1868. The day-use wing, Iyashi no Yu (いやしの湯), has several indoor pools including a semi-outdoor bath, a sleeping bath, an event bath, a waterfall bath (utase-yu, 打たせ湯), sauna, and cold plunge. The water is slightly slippery and leaves skin noticeably smooth, a quality locals call bijin-no-yu (美人の湯), or beauty water. One distinctive touch: the lobby, changing rooms, and bath floor are all covered in tatami. The hotel sits beside a small stream in the satoyama hills and is a regular stop for Shikoku pilgrims walking the 88-temple circuit.
