SulfurSodium-Calcium Chloride-Sulfate spring

An alkaline simple-sulfur cold-mineral spring. The source emerges at just 21 °C, so it is reheated for bathing. It carries hydrogen sulfide with the characteristic rotten-egg note and taste, and at pH 9.3 it is strongly alkaline with a slippery, soft feel on the skin. Lightly mineralized overall, it is gentle on the body. The bath is reheated, diluted, recirculated and disinfected, and the source is flagged as bathing only — not suitable for drinking.

Sulfur and acidic waters are antibacterial and keratolytic, studied for atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.
