About

Kirishima Onsen is a natural sodium chloride spring located in central Kagoshima City, about a 10-minute walk from the Tenmonkan shopping district. Facilities include a sauna, cold bath, jet bath, and massage machines. The changing room ceiling is made of Akita cedar, and the bath tiles are Arita ware, featuring tile art dating back to 1950.

https://www.kirishima-onsen.net A Showa-era sento from 1946 with natural onsen water. Photos from the website and Google — very crowded. Entry: 460 yen. Lockers don't lock, but there are a couple of mini safes. Towels and shampoo available for an extra fee. Women's side has 2 hair dryers, one apparently a Dyson. Inside: 1 cold standing bath and 1 hot bath divided into 2 sections (with a cold water tap on one end). The thermometer showed 42.5 degrees, but the water is hotter at the outlet so they dilute it. The water is blue and soapy. The website lists alkaline simple hot spring (pH 8.5), chloride spring. Glass-bottle milk available! Plus an ancient massage chair and a coin-operated hair dryer that's clearly been there since the 1940s.
