A sodium-led bicarbonate spring with a chloride layer — the classic juso-sen style, soft on the skin at a neutral pH. A generous 219 mg/kg of metasilicic acid puts it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family, leaving the kind of silica film skin notices afterwards. At the source the water is almost colorless and clear, yet it tastes salty with faint sulfur, iron and carbonic notes and carries a hydrogen sulfide smell. The certificate samples it at the bath inlet of the Uguisu-no-yu pool, after the water has been cooled through the property's heat exchanger.

858. Okuhida Garden Hotel Yakedake, Okuhida Onsen, Gifu (pt.2) ★★★ About the onsens: 3. Outdoor mixed bathing area. Mountain and forest view. In the passage from the floor area to the konyoku area, there are wraps laid out, which must be used as clothing. 3.1. Stone bath. In the center there is a mineral water source that looks like the egg from the movie Alien. The water is a clear light green, temperature 43. 3.2. Area with two utaseyu. 3.3. Semi-open cave bath. View of the road and trees. The water is cloudy green. Temperature 43. The place is top. Distinctive and surprising in itself, and on the onsen side it is very well packed too: many baths, different areas, great water, konyoku, a mineral artifact. 10.03.2026

858. Okuhida Garden Hotel Yakedake, Okuhida Onsen, Gifu (pt.1) ★★★ I went for a higaeri for ¥900. Higaeri is listed from 12:00 to 22:00. The hotel has a somewhat sewashii atmosphere, and the bath area is a bit "sewashii-chaotic". The onsen section is large, and consists of three consecutive zones: an indoor zone on the floor after the changing room, an outdoor semi-open zone on the floor, and a mixed outdoor open-air zone. About the onsens: 1. Indoor men's zone. It is comfortable to breathe inside. 1.1. A bath with clear water, temperature 40.5. 1.2. Two saunas. 1.3. Cold bath. 2. Outdoor men's semi-open zone. It is in the fresh air, with no view. Baths from left to right: 2.1. Stone bath. The water is slightly cloudy, pale brown. There is a rare fine lime deposit. Temperature 40.5. 2.2. Wooden bath.
