About
The water here runs brown from its iron content and flows fresh and unrecirculated (kakenagashi, 掛け流し) from a spring drilled 1,800 meters down. Inside, a large cypress tub fills with it; outside, three single-person wooden-box baths look out onto a bamboo grove, with a sauna and a cold-water tub alongside. The building leans into warm incandescent lighting and a lot of exposed wood, giving it a quiet, slightly retro feel. There is also a foot bath at the entrance that anyone can use without paying admission.
