681. Hotel Kawakyu, Shirahama, Wakayama ★★ Luxury onsen. Visited in the morning for higaeri massage + onsen. Booked the first slot in advance on the website; booking slots are from 09:00 to 19:00. The massage was solid but more relaxing and light. After the massage you can go to the onsen. When choosing a slot, note that baths are closed from 10:30 to 13:00. There is a gender rotation for baths. 1. Indoor bath area. Right in the bath area there's a fireplace, seating, drinking water, and a premium sauna drink for 500 yen. The area looks stylish. Breathing inside is fine. 1.1. Bath with clear water with fine sparse white limestone particles. Has a slippery/soapy feel. Temperature around 41.5. 1.2. Silk bath, temperature around 40.5. 1.3. Lying-down area with clear water, temperature around 41.5. 1.4. Sauna. 1.5. Cold bath. 2. Semi-open area. Great view through an opening to the bay and the other shore. The view from the infinity bath, but it runs into the glass. Clear water with fine white limestone, slippery/soapy feel. Temperature around 42. Really great place, recommended for a visit. If you have more time and book the first early slot, I think you could ask to try both bath areas during the gender rotation in one visit. 10.11.2025
