About

Kayokan is a hot-spring ryokan at Kakunodate onsen in Akita, with an indoor bath and an outdoor bath looking out over trees that turn green in summer and white with snow in winter. The bathing hall also has a jet bath, an electric bath, and a mist sauna rather than a dry one. The men's and women's sides are kept separate and swap each Monday. The water is colorless and clear, soft and gentle on the skin. The ryokan's restaurant serves regional Akita cooking alongside Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, and the bath is open to day visitors as well as overnight guests.
