Classification

Sodium Bicarbonate spring

A sodium-led bicarbonate spring from Beppu's Uenoguchi district, with a salt-tinged finish from a chloride sub-type, surfacing hot at 54.7 °C. Weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, it belongs to Japan's beauty-water family. A generous 260 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother, while the water itself runs colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless.

About

A municipal onsen with showers located within a 5-minute walk from the station. It was formerly known as Kaimonji Park Onsen and became a municipal onsen in 1936. Located about a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station, it is loved not only by local citizens but also by tourists. The current Kaimonji Onsen, renewed and reopened in February 2010, is fully barrier-free, with a Japanese-style exterior harmonizing with the adjacent Kaimonji Park, evoking a calm and elegant atmosphere. It features two baths with different temperatures, "Atsuyu" (hot water) and "Nuruyu" (lukewarm water), making it easier for tourists unaccustomed to hot springs to bathe and allowing visitors to feel the charm of Beppu Onsen up close.

70. Kaimonji Onsen, Beppu Municipal onsen for ¥250. Hours are listed as 06:30 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 22:30. They stamp the Beppu onsen-do. There is staff, there is a shower, there is no soap. The bath photos from the internet match the place. Two adjoining indoor baths with clear water, temperatures are 43 and 44. It is easy to breathe inside. 28.04.2024 27.12.2025
