Akayu Onsen Yamaguchi Kan

Reaching Yamaguchikan requires a solid two-hour mountain hike, but the reward is a genuinely wild rotenburo filled with calcium-sodium chloride water set deep in the backcountry. The seasonal lodge is bare-bones, wooden rooms, a hearth, home-cooked meals, and the outdoor bath feels entirely earned after the climb.
