Yadori Tamagawakyo Onsen
Bicarbonate
+ Chloride

A sodium-led bicarbonate spring with a chloride sub-type giving the water a gentle salty finish. At pH 8.7 it sits firmly in the alkaline 'beauty-water' family — slippery on the skin in the classic Japanese sense. The 36 °C source carries the faintest whisper of hydrogen sulfide and a barely-there sulfur note, a quiet but distinctive character.

A secluded ryokan deep in the mountains. It's not easy to get there, as the mountain road is very narrow. It's better to travel while it's still light. The water is quite interesting with a "soapy" film. Pleasant and relaxing. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) is surprisingly shallow and lacks the view you would expect from such a remote location. Recommended for a visit.

634. Yadori Onsen Iyashinoyu, Hashimoto, Wakayama Visited for day use at 700 yen. Day use available from 11:00 to 21:00 (Fri-Mon). They stamp the 88 Onsen of Wakayama stamp book. They sell the 12 Onsen of Wakayama stamp book. They issue Toreco cards for the onsen. Bath photos from the internet match roughly — I went in the evening and there was also an inflatable blue cold bath on the balcony. Very inconvenient to get to, especially by car in the evening. If there are several people, a shuttle is advertised on the website. 1. Indoor bath with clear water, slight cloudiness, soapy texture. Temperature 41.5. Breathing inside is fine. 2. Outdoor zone is essentially a balcony. Fence, basically no view. 2.1. Small round bath — couldn't get in, it was constantly occupied. Advertised temperature 40-42. 2.2. Inflatable blue cold bath. Very problematic to reach and the baths aren't impressive. 02.11.2025
